Cone-beam volumetric imaging was developed at the U. of Cologne in
Germany to allow the use of legally permitted levels of radiation for
wider range of dental diagnostic applications than previously available.
In initial trial phrase of this three-dimensional diagnostic tool, the
authors of this medical atlas (both of the U. of Cologne) were surprised
at the number of asymptotic pathological entities discovered by chance.
They have therefore prepared the atlas to illustrate these findings for
use in day-to- day assessments. In addition to presenting diagnostic
images, the atlas discusses the use of three-dimensional imaging in oral
surgery, othodontic, and implantological therapy. The DVD contains an
original data set and videos of assessments in different dental
disciplines in order to demonstrate the diagnostic uses of the
three-dimensional orthopantographs produced by this technique.
