There is tremendous time and effort involved in vaccine
administration to children ("Plethora of Shots Burdens
Providers," June 2008, p. 1).
It has become the most time-consuming aspect of my small practice,
especially from May through September.
I find kids more and more fearful, though my staff and I are very
gentle and experienced. I find it difficult to maintain a constant clear
focus on a holistic approach to individual patient care when there are
so many "jabs" to fit in.
I question the wisdom of so many mandated vaccines. Varicella,
Prevnar, Influenza, Hep B and Hep A could be given as the situation
warrants. I am interested in what other physicians think about this.
