AFTER just missing out a Wembley final last season, Whitley
Bay's Darren Timmons is determined not to lose out again.
As the Bay reached the semi-final of the FA Vase, losing to
Lowestoft, Timmons could only follow matters from a computer screen on
the other side of the world.
The 28-year-old missed the whole of last season as he travelled
around Australia and the Far East, but has returned ready for the fight
at Hillheads.
He said: "I enjoyed my adventure last season but now I am back
I want to enjoy my football again.
"I was born and brought up in Whitley Bay, so it is an honour
to play for my hometown club."
While last season's FA Vase exit was a bitter pill to swallow
for all involved, Timmons feels this could be their year.
He added: "We have kept most of last season's squad and,
with Craig McFarlane and Leon Ryan joining, the manager has a strong
squad from which to pick.
"I feel we can go a long way this season and, hopefully, I can
play my part this time."
Timmons, a competitive and classy defender is a big favourite with
the Whitley fans and they, like manager Ian Chandler, are thrilled to
have him back in the heart of their defence.
