The European Food Safety Authority has concluded that troubled
packaging ingredient bisphenol A (BPA) is safe. The EU body said that
research had shown that humans metabolise and eliminate the chemical,
found in baby bottles and tin cans, much faster than rat tests had
suggested. Canadian regulators recently proposed labelling BPA as toxic
(C&I 2008, 9, 5).
