Swiss life science company Lonza has signed a new strategic partnership with Novartis for the joint development and manufacture of Novartis' biologics as an extension of Lonza's current contract manufacturing business model. Lonza has also entered into a strategic partnership with US stem cell therapeutics specialist Osiris Therapeutics for the production of Osiris' Prochymal stem cell therapy. Lonza will build what it claims is the first commercial-scale allogeneic cGMP manufacturing facility, with additional capacity to produce cGMP grade cell culture media, at its Walkersville facility in Maryland, US.
