The Society of Chemical Industry and the Society of Dyers and
Colourists India Education Charity (SDC India EC) have agreed to work
together to promote and further knowledge about mutual interest areas,
including the science of colour.
The joint agreement was ratified with the signing of a memorandum
of understanding between the respective Indian bodies of the SCI and the
SDC India EC on 25 June 2008.
Shri Pradip Dave, Executive Chairman and Honorary Trustee of SCI
India came together with Shri Neelkanth Desai, Honorary Secretary, and
Shri Madhu Maheshwari, Honorary Treasurer of SDC India EC to sign and
exchange the document during a small gathering in Mumbai.
Like SCI, SDC India EC is a knowledge-based charitable
organisation. It is also the world's only international
professional society aimed at 'advancing the science of
colour' and is a qualifying body responsible for maintaining high
standards of qualifications, competence and professional practice.
SCI CEO Andrew Ladds, said: 'There is so much overlap in our
respective areas that it was a natural course of action to agree to work
together to further knowledge sharing and science education in India.
'We also have much to learn from each other--our agreement
means that we can become a force to be reckoned with and really play a
part in shaping the future of these industries in India.
'Since its launch last year, SCI India has gone from strength
to strength and the joint agreement firmly establishes SCI's
position in India as a force for good.'
