Tembec and Kruger and their joint venture partner Marathon Pulp have received the coveted Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification for their forestry practices on the Big Pic Forest.
Marathon received certification from the Rainforest Alliance SmartWood Program, an FSC-accredited certifier, following an in-depth audit process. It means the forest management practices comply with very rigorous standards for environmentally and socially responsible practices.
"Achieving FSC certification is the culmination of months of hard work and represents a well-deserved recognition of the efforts of our team and that of partner companies," said Marathon Pulp vice-president Marc Barrette.
