The Ontario government has selected a team of experts to advise on the protection of species at risk.
They include people specializing in resource use, land use and the environment who are not part of the public sector and have good knowledge of the protection and recovery of species at risk.
The committee is one of two groups established under Ontario's new Endangered Species Act.
The committee chairman is Peter Meisenheimer, executive director of the Ontario Commercial Fisheries' Association, who is a consultant on fisheries management matters.
Some of the members include Jessica Annis, Director of Environmental Policy at the Building, Industry and Land Development Association; Scott Jackson, forest policy manager at the Ontario Forest Industries Association; and Paul Noris, president of the Ontario Waterpower Association.
