THE local branch of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and
Development (CIPD) has teamed up with the Chronicle to promote its
annual awards.
This will be the third year of these prestigious awards.
Tony Weightman, of CIPD, said: "Since the inception of the
Human Resource and Development Awards, the event has grown phenomenally.
"Last year more than 400 people joined together to celebrate
the organisations that demonstrated best practice.
"The joint efforts to promote this event have created one of
the major evenings in the professional calendar. Already there are
people asking for the details of tables for next year's
event."
The next event is at the Hilton Hotel on March 12.
Eight awards will be up for grabs, recognising organisations'
and individuals' contributions to growing their business.
Each award is sponsored by well-known organisations, such as
Dickinson Dees, Pertemps and Newcastle Business School, Northumbria
University.
Tony Leather, the branch chair, said: "This year looks like it
will be even better than last year.
Not only do we have a new venue, we hope to attract more people who
feel that their contributions should be recognised.
"In a downturn we have should all look for positive
contributions. By recognising success we can contribute to the growth of
the area."
