Q If you weren't in this line of work, what would you be doing?
If I weren't doing what I'm doing in the Cobalt area I'd be working as a geologist all over the world in the mining sector or oil industry. However, if I wasn't doing anything in the mining sector, I'd probably work in the tourist camp business or run a bar in the tropics!
Q What's the best advice you've ever received?
"Never make a major decision when you are upset or angry." Wait, relax, and think about it before doing anything!
Q Where's your favorite place to get away?
Stress is a major factor in my life from work so going to my cottage and my family's tourist camp Portage Bay on the Montreal River near Cobalt is my sanctuary.
Professionally, who inspired you the most?
I have to say my father Albert who ran and operated his own silver mine in the 1960-70s, and my Haileybury School of Mines professors, in particular Carlo Cattarrello, Gerry Culhane, KV Kunduri, Ted Marvin and Paul Bateman.
Q What's the best advice you have to give?
When starting a business, be well financed and have plenty of cash for operations and, if ever possible, minimize debt. Better yet, don't use debt financing at all.
