Lise L. Luttgens is the new chief executive officer for the new Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles, which is comprised of six area Girl Scouts councils that will merge into one council on Dec. 1.
"I am thrilled to be able to serve the gifts and their volunteer leaders through the realignment to a new council," said Luttgens in a press release. Luttgens, a former Girl Scout, was selected in a national CEO search and was scheduled to begin her position on Sept. 1.
The councils have been working toward the merger since October 2007 and will include Angeles Girl Scout Council, Girl Scout Council of Greater Long Beach, Girls Scouts-Joshua Tree Council, Girl Scouts-Mt. Wilson Vista Council, Girl Scouts-Spanish Trails Council and Girl Scouts of San Fernando Valley. The newly formed council will have nearly 50,000 Girl Scouts and 22,000 volunteers. More than 280 Girl Scout councils across the country are reorganizing under a national Girl Scouts of the USA plan.
