Q What's the best advice you've ever received?
When you are in the room, be in the room. In other words, when you are at a meeting, interview, employee meeting or talking to your child, pay attention and be there in that space and time continuum and listen.
Q What's the best advice you have to give?
Have a get it done attitude. When things mount up, chunk them out by priority and then get them done or assign them to someone. You will never have the perfect answer or whatever but "get it done." Have fun while you are working. Laugh: it makes the day go quicker.
Q Professionally, who has inspired you the most?
My soils professor at U of T Forestry, Ken Armson. He constantly had a positive attitude, made dirt fun, and still works with passion on any project he is involved in. Now 35 years later if he sees me he still tells me to keep working and have fun.
Q What's been your most gratifying moment, professionally?
For me, I really enjoy watching young staff enter the workplace and be successful. Watching their skills and attitudes come into play is very rewarding. Helping to mentor that has provided me with some very gratifying moments.
Q Do you have a favorite motto?
There is nothing so unfair as to treat unequals equal.
