Wide web of Equipment World: what a wonderful 35 years.

time in every business means money. Sometimes it is easier to go through a website that to take up time speaking with a company representative on information that can be found at one's fingertips.

Heather Syvitski, marketing coordinator and website administrator, says "customer service is still our number one priority."

"Our website has allowed our staff to offer more information quickly to our customers in an interactive format. We offer current product information and direct links to our key suppliers."

Equipment World employees can walk customers through the website in person or over the phone to help them gather all the information they need to assist in the decision-making process.

"We are constantly adding and updating content to our site to make it a value added destination for both our customers and staff members," she says.

Their commitment to customer service does not stop there. On the website, viewers can read detailed descriptions of various safety training courses available through Equipment World. Each course has been designed in accordance with the Ministry of Labour guidelines and promises to bring more awareness to safety in the workplace. This is particularly useful for new employees, seasonal summer students and experienced workers who require a brush up on personnel lift and forklift training, propane cylinder handling, fall protection or rack safety inspection training.

"These courses are becoming a growing trend in the industry sector that aims to ensure safety is first and foremost," says Syvitski. "We have recognized a need to regularly offer courses and now have a calendar of events that publishes the dates of upcoming open enrolment training courses and special events for customers to plan their training requirements."

For companies interested in rentals, leases and purchases of heavy equipment such as forklift equipment, aerial lift equipment (scissors & booms), dock levelers and skid steers, customers can quickly browse the Equipment Inventory section of the site and see what merchandise is available.

"We wanted to offer customers a way to virtually view our inventory available at all our branch locations, so we recently created a section on our website dedicated to the available units," Syvitski says.

"The Equipment Inventory tab allows customers to view the various pieces of equipment that can be purchased, rented or leased and allows us to reserve units for future use and better utilize our resources."

In addition to industrial equipment, Equipment World also offers material handling, warehouse, construction specialties and safety products.

Whether a company is searching for parts, service, rentals, training, construction tools, safety products or some hot deals on new or used products, Equipment World has each of their products and services categorized to make it easier for the viewer to scan and obtain the necessary information needed to make sound decisions for their company.

The construction specialties installation division has grown tremendously in the last several years.

"Working with area construction associations, contractors and builders, Equipment World is able to provide complete turnkey designs and installations on a variety of innovative building solutions," Syvitski says.

They have a dedicated section on their website which includes a pictorial portfolio of installed projects by the Equipment World team featuring an array of products such as folding doors, metal lockers, washroom partitions, demountable walls and many storage shelving options.

In the last few years the Equipment World website has been through a number of changes to become a better tool for customers and staff members.

"We are continually trying to demonstrate our innovative solutions concept with everything we do," Syvitski says. "We wanted to ensure our website is both exciting and effective."

A search feature on the site allows customers to type any key words of products or brand names and instantly filter to pages that are relevant.

Many pages feature content from their current product catalogues and flyers in PDF (printer-friendly and screen viewable pages) and a number of Quick Links that are relevant to industries. "In the future we definitely feel our website presence will be extremely important," says Syvitski.

"Many customers in our industries are utilizing the Internet as a valuable sourcing tool."

With advancements in technology and the increase of Internet availability in remote areas, the company's website will only become more of an asset.

They are always looking at improving their site with more interactive tools and a formal newsletter format in the next several months.

"We have discussed the possibility of e-commerce in the past and when we feel the time is right, it will become a reality, but we have to ensure our customer service teams will be ready to handle all responses appropriately."

"In the meantime, we are very pleased with our current website and encourage all of our customers to browse www.equipworld.com and to sign up to receive current promotional materials and our future newsletters."
