Leading economists confirm U.S. recession.(INDUSTRY NEWS & NOTES)(Brief article)
The National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) issued a statement in December confirming the United States. has been in a recession since December 2007. According to the report, employers have reduced payrolls by 1.2 million jobs in the first 10 months of 2008. At press time, economists were predicting a loss of another 325,000 jobs for November. The NBER is a private group of leading economists charged with dating the start and end of economic downturns. [ILLUSTRATION OMITTED]
