Province gives half a million to Sudbury-area businesses.(SUDBURY BRIEFS)


Amidst the blustery winter cold sat a spot of warmth for new and old businesses alike in the Sudbury area, as the province spread $507,735 across the region.

As part of the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines' Northern Energy Program, the Cardinal Motor Inn was given $250,000 to fund the installation of a solar water heating system.

To help market its committee and meeting management software, myCommittee.com was provided with $70,490.

The MNDM also provided $25,000 to seven local young entrepreneurs. These include Hydraulics North Limited, which looks to provide computer technology services to the forestry industry; Synergy Fitness Studios, a personal training business; and Cosmic Dave's Guitar Emporium, an instrument retail outlet. An eighth young entrepreneur at Universal Cleaning and Maintenance received $13,005.
