Cementation Canada training efforts lauded by College Boreal.(IN BRIEF)

The North Bay-based Cementation Canada Inc. added yet another award to its collection after being recognized for its dedication to the successful training of College Boreal students.

Hosted by the Sudbury & Manitoulin Workforce Partnerships Board, the Employer Stellar Award was given to Cementation after being nominated by the Sudbury school.

Boreal officials hailed Cementation for being instrumental in the development of the school's Trades Consortium and for the continued assistance in maintaining a high standard for its programs. Co-op apprenticeships for Boreal's students at Cementation also provide them with practical work experience.

"The shortage of skilled trades when the mining sector is booming affects a number of professions," said Cementation Canada personnel manager Eric Hodgins, in a release.

"Thanks to College Boreal's co-op work placements, we are assured of providing a high-quality, meaningful work experience to talented students that is in keeping with our own needs."
