Direct response firm Amergent gave itself an early Christmas present when it acquired npadvisors.com right before the holiday.
The Peabody, Mass., full service agency acquired the Warren, Va., online consultancy and will run it as an operating unit within Amergent, said Jack Doyle, president of Amergent. The firms already share several clients, he said.
The deal includes Rick Christ and Heather Fignar, partners in npadvisors, staying with the firm.Terms of the deal, including how long Christ and Fignar will stay, were not disclosed. It is expected that Christ and Fignar will be with the firm long-term. The companies will begin operating together as of Jan. 2.
The discussion had gone on for approximately a year, said Christ.
Both firms have a conservative and religious client bent and base. Amergent also has numerous food bank clients.
NPAdvisors.com was founded in 2001 but has its roots in Internet marketing and Web development that began in 1999. The partners are all experienced marketers with fundraising backgrounds.
Founded in 1980, Amergent is a full-service agency that needed to expand its Web consulting practice. Christ and Fignar are well known as experts in the field, particularly on Web issues. Npadvisors has an eletter on the Internet and use of technology for fundraising that goes to 2,500 readers, which will continue to be published, Christ said.
In 2007, Amergent acquired CreativeOne Direct of Westford, Mass. CreativeOne Direct was a direct marketing/fundraising agency, nationally recognized for its expertise in the religious marketplace.
