A whole ecology of local news is coming and among the players will be:
* Local nonprofits with newspaper-style journalism and foundation/philanthropist subsidy
* For-profits and nonprofits subsidized by individuals and groups with partisan interests
* Venture capital-funded things like Outside.in and local versions of Huffington Post that may or may not try to be nonpartisan
* Current local players trying to enlarge their piece of the pie
* TV stations getting more active online and beyond video, bloggers banding together (local pajamasmedia.com), talk radio trying to cheaply expand into news aggregation, alternative weeklies publishing daily online
* National news organizations trying to figure out new ways to get into local news beyond the local paper/tv station. Metromix.com and Topix to name two
