"Bahrain is truly business friendly" says executive director of the edb at world ceo forum

Trevor Stokes, newly appointed Executive Director of the Economic Development Board of Bahrain (EDB), today highlighted the benefits of 'business friendly' Bahrain as an established regional centre in a speech at the 4th World CEO Forum in Dubai.

Speaking to over 250 CEOs and business leaders from around the world, Trevor Stokes said:"Bahrain is as well placed as any country to benefit as the world recovers. Bahrain is already ready, it's open, it's up and running for business. Bahrain has been an established business centre, particularly in financial services. It is a country that has seen downturns before, learnt lessons and come back stronger."

He further added:"Bahrain is steadily building its future based on sound leadership, prudent investment, good regulation and mature judgement. We are also moving forward with our long term plan to develop the education and skills of our people to ensure they are prepared for the jobs of tomorrow.

With over 400 financial institutions already resident in Bahrain, Stokes said; "Bahrain embodies good governance, strong regulation, transparency, prudence in planning and commendable advocacy."

Trevor Stokes joined the EDB in January 2009 as the new Executive Director of Business Development. In this role, Stokes is responsible for strategically and operationally directing the EDB's business development both in the financial services and the non financial services sector. Prior to joining the EDB, Stokes was CEO of Amex (Middle East) and has spent over 25 years living and working in the Middle East. 2009 Al Bawaba (www.albawaba.com)
