It seems to me that we go through this discussion every year about what to call ourselves. Having been an IE for 38 years and always called an industrial engineer, I'm satisfied with that description of our profession. I was just going over an issue of Industrial Engineer from 2003 and the discussion was the same in the letters to the editor. We don't need to reinvent ourselves. I've always believed that our true specialty was productivity improvement.
At any rate, we don't need to call ourselves anything else.
