GAC Logistics scores with Brazilian volleyball sponsorship
The GAC logo has been given prime time exposure on Brazilian TV, thanks to its sponsorship of the local premier league volleyball team, Santo AndrE[umlaut].
Inspired by the high profile and results achieved from GAC's global sports sponsorships (Crystal Palace FC, pro golfers Richard Sterne and Graeme Storm, race drivers Viktor Jensen and Alex Brundle, etc), GAC Brazil's Managing Director Rodrigo De Marco and General Manager Antonio Sandreschi decided to support Brazilian athletes. As Rodrigo says, choosing which sport to follow was easy.
"Volleyball is hugely popular in Brazil," says Rodrigo. "After football, it is the most watched and played sport in the country, and we've had a string of Olympic successes in all categories, culminating with a Gold Medal in the Women's Indoor competition in Beijing last year. In fact, Brazil has won more Olympic medals than any other nation."
Natural choiceSanto AndrE[umlaut] was the natural choice of team. Based in the Sao Paulo metropolitan district, an industrial area with a high density of logistics customers, it was the perfect fit for GAC Logistics Brazil. And the free tickets for customers and business partners are a bonus.
Marcelo Madeira, a Santo Andre player in the 1980s and the team's coach since 1999, was instrumental in sealing the deal. He says: "It's great to be linked to a major international company like GAC Logistics."
Superliga recognitionNow in its 15th season, the Superliga Brasiliera de Voleibol (Brazilian Volleyball Superleague) is the country's top volleyball league for both men and women and is organised by the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation.
Superliga teams take their main sponsor's name, so the team has been known as GAC Logistics Santo AndrE[umlaut] since Day 1 of the agreement, giving a massive brand awareness boost for the GAC name and logo. Wherever the team plays throughout Brazil, they take the brand with them with the GAC logo displayed on their kits for official games, training and leisure.
Prime time exposure GAC Logistics Santo AndrE[umlaut]'s second match of the season was broadcast on SporTV, Brazil's principal sports channel, giving GAC 90 minutes of prime time exposure. Further, the Band Sports channel has invited the coach and a team member to appear in three guest spots, where they will again prominently display the GAC brand.
"The exposure we've had during the first season has been fantastic," says Antonio. "Based on that, GAC Brazil and GAC Logistics Santo AndrE[umlaut] see this as a long-term relationship that will carry the brand forward for at least three years."
