Bentham Science Publishers (Oak Park, IL), a producer of 92 science, technology and medical (STM) online and print journals, 200 open access journals as well as related book series, has launched a series of six new journals covering patent developments in six major industries, including electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science, chemical engineering, computer sciences and biomedical engineering. All six of the new journals are being published three times a year. An annual subscription to any of the six costs $1,360 for corporations, $840 for academic institutions and $390 for individuals.
"Recent Patents on Electrical Engineering" publishes articles on recent patents in electrical engineers. Initial issues include coverage of such topics as patents on design, reconfigurable antennas, green technologies including waste-heat technology and thermoelectric power, broadband communication channels, auto-tuning controllers and RF receivers. "Recent Patents on Materials Science" publishes articles on recent patents in all fields of materials science, including patents on nucleic acid detection, manufacturing ogano-clays, plating, thin films, composites and nano-particles.
"Recent Patents on Computer Science" follows recent patents in all areas of computer science, including patents in initial issues covering optical and server networks, 3-D spatial information systems, land vehicle navigation, epileptic series prediction, civil and structural engineering, and programming. "Recent Patents on Mechanical Engineering" covers recent patents in mechanical engineering including CAD, electronics packaging, fuel cells, mechanical tolerances and environmental systems.
"Recent Patents in Chemical Engineering" covers recent patents in chemical engineering, including oil recovery processes, food processing, hydroprocessing technologies, desalination and diesel particulate matter removal. Finally, "Recent Patents on Biomedical Engineering" publishes articles on recent patents in the field of biomedical engineering, including new medical devices and biomaterials. Initial issues cover patents on phone-based health care technology, digital information processing, EEG processing, tissue engineering, MIR sequences and magnetic localization systems.
Overall, Bentham now publishes 19 journals covering recent patents in industries such as nanotechnology, biotechnology, drug discovery, and clinical trials, among others. Ten of the 19 are open access.
