"Family Business Review," "Criminal Justice Abstracts" from Sage.


In March, Sage Publications (Los Angeles, CA) will assume publishing responsibilities of "Family Business Review," a quarterly journal devoted exclusively to the examination of the dynamics and legal implications of family-controlled enterprises, including firms ranging from "the very large" to the "relatively small. An annual print/online subscription costs $345 for institutions and $115 for individuals.

The journal was launched and has been published by the Family Firm Institute (FFI; Boston, MA), an organization that offers information, education and professional development services related to the family businesses and family wealth fields.

Sage said the title's content is focused not only on the entrepreneurial founding generation, but also on family enterprises in the second and third generations and beyond, including some of the world's oldest companies. It also publishes interdisciplinary research on families of wealth and the family office.

The journal covers such areas as: succession planning, impact of family dynamics on managerial behaviors, estate and tax planning, liquidity issues, financial management, generation and gender issues, international family owned businesses, organizational structures, and strategic planning and organizational changes in family firms.

Recent journal issues have carried articles and opinions on topics such as: sustaining trust among family members, earnings management, turnaround strategies, contingency models for succession, financial structures, divorce and corporate relationships post-divorce, spousal inheritance and operating in emerging markets, among many others.

Sage is also now publishing "Criminal Justice Abstracts," a quarterly journal that abstracts information from current books, book chapters, journals, government reports and dissertations worldwide, including over 500 journals published in several different languages. It also includes coverage of new books from scholarly and commercial publishes and reports from public and private agencies from a range of nations.

Abstracts cover a wide variety of criminal justices topics including: audit corrections, behavioral science, courts and the legal process, crime prevention and control strategies, education, juvenile justice and delinquency, law, social work and substance abuse. An annual subscription costs $1,029 for institutions and $215 for individuals.
