Note from the editors.

The papers in this issue's forum are revised versions of a select group of papers presented at the Tenth Annual UNC Tax Symposium held at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC, Match 23-24, 2007. The UNC Tax Center sponsored the conference with financial support from the KPMG Foundation. The papers reflect the convergence of tax research from different areas, particularly economics and accounting. Each paper has been subject to the usual refereeing process. We thank Edward Maydew and Douglas Shackelford for editing the papers that appear in the forum and Rosanne Altshuler for her help organizing this forum.
