On March 25, 2008, TEI's Santa Clara Valley Chapter presented its 2007 Meritorious Chapter Service Award to Larry R. Langdon, former LMSB Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service and a past president of TEI. Now a partner with the law firm of Mayer Brown LLP, Mr. Langdon was one of the founding members of the Santa Clara Valley Chapter. He contributed to the Santa Clara Valley Chapter as a frequent speaker at educational programs as well as making available the resources of his firm for the chapter's continuing education programs.
Current Chapter President David Gaul presented the award at a half-day chapter educational program, "U.S. Tax Accounting Update," which featured speakers from Ernst & Young LLP and was attended by 195 people. Mr. Gaul explained that Larry Langdon is "a true leader in the Santa Clara Valley tax community in every sense of the word. He has facilitated networking opportunities within the chapter through his extensive contacts within industry and government. He has served as a career advisor to many members of our chapter, and has helped us build the next generation of Chapter leaders."
