De Vries (senior analyst, RAND Europe), Goldman (health economics, RAND), and Joyce (senior economist, RAND) provide a comparative study of differences and trends in cost of medical treatment for acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and colorectal cancer (CRC) in Germany and the United States. The study concludes that inpatient treatment costs are higher in the U.S.: four times higher for AMI and three times higher for CRC. It also examines differences in treatment practices between the two countries and other related topics. Numerous tables are included. There is no index. The book is distributed in the U.S. by ISBS.
