National Home Centers sues bankrupt builder.(NW Journal: A Look at News From Northwest Arkansas)

National Home Centers Inc. of Springdale is suing bankrupt homebuilder Aaron Nickell and his wife, Tammi Lynn Nickell.

In a complaint filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Arkansas in April, NHC is seeking more than $2 million.

According to the complaint, in November 2006, Nickell negotiated an extension of credit on the principal of $2.09 million owed to NHC and promised to pay the company 100 percent of the net proceeds from the sale of properties owned by Nickell. In turn, NHC agreed to not file liens, which might hinder the sale of the properties.

Nickell filed for bankruptcy in November 2007.

National Home Centers was No. 43 on Arkansas Business' 2008 list of the state's largest private companies with revenue of $191.2 million in the fiscal year that ended Jan. 31, 2008. The company has reported revenue of $144.6 million for the most recent fiscal year, a decrease of almost 25 percent.
