Recession hurts travel at airports in Arkansas.(Inside Business)


The recession is continuing to cut into air travel, according to the Air Transport Association of America.

There was an 11.3 percent drop in passengers traveling from Little Rock National Airport in April and a 13.4 percent decline at Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport at Highfill. Nationwide, the number of passengers traveling on U.S. airlines in April fell 6.3 percent.

The Little Rock airport recorded 88,944 enplanements in April, compared with 100,282 for the same month last year. Highfill recorded 41,826 enplanements last month.
