Fayetteville hotel cited for sustainability plan.(Notes)

The Courtyard by Marriott in Fayetteville is the first hotel in northwest Arkansas to be awarded the Silver Eco-Certification by Eco Crown Hospitality after the recent launch of a collaborative sustainability action plan for hotel guests and employees.

This recognition provides a standard for environmentally conscious travelers to the area while highlighting the hotel as an eco-leader on common travel Web sites such as Travelocity and Expedia.

Eco Crown Hospitality globally recognizes hotels, resorts and restaurants by awarding audited certifications based on six key areas, ranging from operational practices and guest education to waste handling and the local economy.

"We feel it is our social responsibility as leaders in the Fayetteville business and hospitality community to set an example and do what we can to reduce and recycle waste whenever possible," said T.J. Angeleno, general manager of the Courtyard by Marriott at Fayetteville and sustainability coordinator for Vista Host properties.
