* Arkansas Tech senior golfer Jarred Carlyle became the second tour-time first-team All-Gulf South Conference honoree in the history of the league and the fourth Wonder Boy to earn All-Conference honors four consecutive years. Carlyle, from Nashville, won the individual medalist honors at this year's GSC Championships after shooting a school Division II-era record 209, and he led Tech with a 73.3 scoring average in 25 rounds and 11 tournaments this season.
* University of Arkansas-Fort Smith baseball coach Dale Harpenau reached the 700 career win mark as a college head coach in April. The Remsen, Iowa, native and 22-year coaching veteran has compiled a 707-351-4 win-loss record during head coaching stints at his alma maters--UA-Fort Smith and Arkansas Tech. He has won 67 percent of his games. Harpenau reached the milestone two years after earning his 600th career win--an 8-6 victory against Lon Morris College.
Harpenau has compiled a 405-166 win-loss record during his 11 seasons at UA-Fort Smith, during which time the Lions have posted 10 winning seasons.
