Many shoppers are agitated about the casual placement of sale price signs. Stores need to take this more seriously.

Most shoppers, especially older ones, have had the experience of store associates getting testy when they insist that the sign with the item was less than the scanned price. This is an old problem, but may be taking on a new twist. One of our shoppers wrote: "Trader Joe's and Costco are the only stores where the sale item is always clearly priced. That's probably because their prices are lower altogether. Supermarkets that are careless about aligning sale prices with the exact item on sale are in danger of having shoppers conclude that inexact signs are signs of higher prices overall.
