LEVEL 3 SELECTED TO UPGRADE CAPACITY FOR WISCNET.

Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:LVLT), Broomfield, Colo., has been selected to deliver a ten-fold capacity upgrade to WiscNet, the University of Wisconsin System's Research and Education Network. Under the terms of the agreement, Level 3 will boost the capacity it delivers to WiscNet from 1 Gbps to 10 Gbps.

"We turned to Level 3 for its cost-efficient, reliable IP services that will continue to allow us to grow and scale WiscNet," said Mike Schlicht of the University of Wisconsin System. "The dramatic increase in capacity will allow further information and resource sharing among education organizations, which are key pillars of WiscNet."

WiscNet is a non-profit, membership-based association of public and private organizations that provides access to worldwide information and computing resources with primary emphasis on education, research, and public service. WiscNet is the vision that brought educators together from 26 colleges and universities in 1989 in the effort to provide high-speed Internet to the research and education community.
