Intercontinental Hotels Group
Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) has opened two new propertied in South Africa with plans to open another in Kenya later this year. The 318-room Crowne Plaza Johannesburg - The Rosebank marks the hotel brand's return to South Africa after a two-years. The Rosebank Hotel is operated under a franchise agreement with Hospitality Property Fund (HPF). Working in partnership with local developers ISO Leisure, the 304-room Holiday Inn Express Sunnypark has also opened its doors. IHG is also set to open its second Crowne Plaza hotel in Kenya in autumn 2009 - The 163-room Crowne Plaza Nairobi. www.ihg.com Jun 5, 2009

Each Langham hotel around the world from Auckland to Pasadena will OdoffO its hat to its forebear -- The Langham, London -- which celebrates a return to its former glory as one of the British capitalOs leading hotels following an GBP 80 million (USD 129 million) renovation. The first afternoon tea at The Langham, London, was served in the Salle E Manger (now the Palm Court) for ladies and gentlemen for 1 shilling 6 pence. Billed as Oteas plain,O the first afternoon tea simply consisted of simple but dainty items including cakes, sweets, bread and butter and, of course, tea.
