Q What's the best advice you've ever received?
The most memorable advice I've ever received was given to me by a colleague at the time immediately following the passing of my father about five years ago. He said: "You'll experience a variety of emotions over the coming days and weeks, but try to use this time as an opportunity to think about how you want to be remembered by your family and friends." This advice helped me put things into perspective during a difficult time, and prompted me to give more consideration to how I interact with others.
Q What's been your most gratifying moment, professionally?
Assembling and managing a team that succeeded in transforming an organization that was on the brink of collapse into a thriving, relevant and successful enterprise. Working with a team of dedicated and capable people towards a common goal is always very gratifying to me.
Q Do you have a favorite motto?
My favorite is probably "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt." - Abraham Lincoln. I should probably try to apply it more often.
Q What's your favorite place to get away?
I wouldn't single out any one place since I love to travel, so I guess my favorite place to get away is always the next destination I'm going to. Having said that, Australia's Gold Coast definitely ranks highly on my list.
