Whitley boss in signing quest.

Byline: LEE RYDER

WHITLEY Bay boss Ian Chandler is looking to improve his squad as he bids to bring the Northern League title back to Hillheads.

The FA Vase winners missed out on the title by a whisker last term and are hoping to add to their collection of silverware next term after winning the league in 2007.

Chandler has confirmed that Bruce Hogg has left Hillheads for pastures new after relocating, while back-up keeper Robbie McLean is also seeking regular firstteam football and won't be at the coast side next term.

But with pre-season already under way, Chandler is looking to add a winger and a central midfielder to his ranks next season.

Chandler told the Chronicle: "I am casting my eye over a couple of possible additions to the squad, a central midfielder and a winger, and decisions will be made over the next couple of weeks.

"I'm delighted to say that almost all of last season's squad are back.

"A couple of absentees are Bruce Hogg and Robbie McLean, however long-term injury Darren Timmons has now fully recovered from his cartilage operation.

"Pre-season is well under way now. The players have had three good sessions and all are looking really eager for the season to start."

Meanwhile, Whitley have dismissed out of hand a bid for Wembley hero Lee Kerr from Conference new boys Gateshead, who were keen to sign the highlyrated striker.

BAY are offering a range of season ticket special offers for the new season.

An individual adult ticket is priced at pounds 80 while a child/OAP ticket is half of that.

Combined deals are available at large reductions and an adultplus-child season ticket is only pounds 90.

To take advantage of any of these offers, call (0191) 402 8999.

This offer is only available until July 31.
