Big John Tree Transplanter Manufacturing Inc. of Heber Springs said it has sold an order of seven Big John Model 90Ds, each mounted on a new Mack truck chassis, to the city of Baghdad, Iraq.
Will Humphreys, company vice president, said there are many palm and date trees along the Tigris River, which runs through Baghdad
"The signs of the upcoming economic slowdown prompted Big John to actively pursue overseas business about four years ago," Humphreys said. "It has definitely paid off. Exports will represent approximately 35 percent of our revenue this year."
Big John, started in 1976, designs and produces at its 55,000-SF plant a wide range of tree transplanters that can be truck mounted, loader mounted or trailer mounted.
