800 000 t/a alumina kicks off in Guizhou.(Inorganics)

Guangdong Aluminum Group Guizhou Branch held a commencement ceremony for the construction of its 800 000 t/a alumina project and a matching 1.6 million t/a bauxite processing plant in Qingzhen, Guizhou province.

This project has a total investment of RMB20 billion and is scheduled to come on stream in 2012. After full operation, it is estimated to bring RMB2.5 billion of sales revenue to the company.

The company also plans future schedules such as aluminum smelting and aluminum products processing projects.

As reported, Qingzhen region has a proven reserve of 229.38 million tons of bauxite, accounting for 10.15% of national total.
