The Arkansas Lottery Commission last week hired a staff attorney and procurement director and contract administrator, both of which pay annual salaries of $105,000.
Lottery Executive Director Ernie Passailaigue introduced Bishop Woosley as procurement director and Bridgette Frazier as staff attorney. Woosley formerly was assistant to the Arkansas Attorney General, and Frazier was the House of Representatives' general counsel.
The two hires bring to five the total number of employees hired by the commission, including Passailaigue; Vice President of Administration Ernestine Middleton, who worked with Passailaigue at the South Carolina lottery; and Julie Baldridge, who is public relations, legislative and commission liaison director.
The latest announcement came a week after the commission said it would hire two vice presidents with salaries of $225,000 each. So far, the commission has filled the one vice president of administration position.
Passailaigue said the commission had received 15,000 applications for remaining positions and promised Arkansans would get most of the top jobs that remain unfilled.
Also during the meeting, the commission approved a resolution that will allow the lottery to seek a bank to handle its accounts, approved a second resolution to open "two or three" regional offices, and approved rules for retailers selling lottery tickets.
The commission did not decide where the regional offices will be located.
The commission is scheduled to meet again at 1:30 p.m. July 15 at the University of Arkansas at Beebe.
