Dillard's Inc. of Little Rock said Thursday that same-store sales fell 14 percent in June to $497.2 million, compared with $593.3 million for the same period in 2008
Wall Street analysts had expected same-store sales to fall 10.4 percent. Total sales for the five weeks ended July 5 fell 16 percent.
The company said sales were best in the Central region of the United States, and weaker in the East and West. Home and furniture sales were below trend.
Year-to-date, same-store sales are off 13 percent while total sales fell 15 percent to $2.34 billion, compared with $2.8 billion for the year-ago period.
