AT&T COMPLETES UNICEL WIRELESS INTEGRATION IN N.Y. STATE.(Company overview)

As part of its commitment to provide a smooth transition for former Unicel customers in New York State, AT&T has integrated all cell sites in the legacy Unicel network AT&T acquired in New York, with AT&T's existing nationwide wireless network.

This development represents nearly six months of intense labor during which AT&T optimized cell signals in an effort to create the kind of high-quality wireless experience AT&T customers have come to expect across the country, and paves the way for future network enhancements across the territory. AT&T's wireless network in New York State is monitored twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week at AT&T's state-of-the-art Global Network Operations Center. This facility manages all of AT&T's voice and data traffic and provides visibility into network performance, allowing the company to better maintain its infrastructure, analyze network performance, and ensure network capacity to meet customer demand. AT&T also has a dedicated network team in place locally, who can be rapidly dispatched to individual cell sites or switching centers should the need arise.

AT&T's acquired Unicel wireless network assets in Clinton, Franklin, Essex, Hamilton and Fulton Counties - as well as those in the state of Vermont - are now integrated into the AT&T network. Since AT&T closed its acquisition of these network assets in December 2008, it has added a new cell site in Lewis, enhancing wireless coverage in the Adirondack Park along the I-87 Northway between exit 32 in the Lewis/Stowersville area up through exit 33, Route 22.

"AT&T is to be congratulated on this successful transition," states Garry Douglas, president of the Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce. "All actions and investments that enhance and ultimately expand communications service in the North Country are important to business and economic development."

"While this investment represents a significant milestone, we are committed to bringing expanded wireless coverage to our New York State customers," said Jay Summerson vice president of external affairs, AT&T New York. "Our ongoing investments in the state will help us ensure that New Yorkers have access to the wireless services that help drive economic growth."

In response to growing demand for its highly desirable wireless products and services, AT&T has recently doubled its local customer sales support team, hiring six new employees for its newly renovated Plattsburgh store. This location has been expanded to include an additional 1400 square feet of showroom space, allowing customers to experience AT&T's device portfolio in a try-before-you-buy environment with live demo units and displays.

"Our sales team is available to assist customers, especially those transitioning from Unicel, to help them find the right wireless solution to meet their individual needs. Whether they are checking e-mail, uploading video or using award-winning applications like AT&T Navigator, AT&T lets today's wireless customers make the most of their mobile experience," added Bob Holliday, vice president and general manager for AT&T New York State. "From road warriors to texting teens, twice as many Smartphone users in the U.S. have chosen AT&T over any other wireless carrier. We have something for everyone."

There are 50 AT&T-owned retail locations in upstate New York. AT&T's products and services are also available at a number of authorized dealer and national retail locations.
