Americans don't know very much.

The vast majority of Americans don't follow politics at all. According to a June 1 Harris Interactive poll, 59 percent of Americans don't know Tim Geitner (the country's Treasury Secretary); 57 percent of Americans don't know the name Ben Bernanke; 57 percent don't know that Robert Gates is the Secretary of Defense; and 31 percent of Americans don't even know that Joe Biden is the vice president of the United States. In a poll taken last December, more Americans said they believe in the devil (59 percent) and angels (71 percent), than believe in Darwin's theory of evolution (47 percent).
