J.M. Products is planning to fight to keep the case as a Chapter 11 reorganization.

"There's been no inappropriate conduct on the part of the management of J.M. Products, and they're fully capable of operating their business in the normal course of business," said Sheila Campbell of Little Rock, J.M.'s bankruptcy attorney.

The president of the company is Michael W. Joshua, son of the late Ernest P. Joshua Sr., who established the company in 1977.

From January through May, J.M. Products reported a net income of $1.17 million on revenue of $4.6 million.

"They are doing better since the 2007 fire, which resulted in them having to reorganize, so business is steady and they are a profitable organization," Campbell said.

The 2007 fire involving two key production lines caused revenue to fall in 2007 and 2008, the bankruptcy filing said.

When J.M. filed for Chapter 11 in April, the company didn't include a detailed record of its assets and debts.

Since then, the company has. It reported $20.1 million in assets and $14.6 million in debts.
