Your "Whisper" staff scared up some more information about the Hillcrest Kroger for our devoted readers. (You know we've got your back.)
The Kroger will not be two-story, the company said firmly. That rumor can be laid to rest. The location will have a mezzanine for an employee break room, store offices, etc., currently at the back of the store, to make room for more retail space.
However, the front of the store will be extended north about 10 feet. That will be the only structural extension of the four exterior walls.
The company will thoroughly reorganize the interior to maximize every square-inch as the grocery location will be getting some new features.
The Hillcrest Kroger will become what Kroger insiders refer to the as a "fresh-fare" store. That means more produce and other perishables. It will also feature a hot bar that will prepare take-home meals and a sushi bar.
And, we're told, the location will have a more extensive line of international foods.
Keep in mind the renovation won't start until the beginning of next year.
