Energy major Shell has sold the first petrol containing second generation cellulosic bioethanol. The 10% blend of bioethanol, produced in a 40,000 gal/month demonstration plant from wheat straw by logen Energy, was on sale at a Shell service station in Ottawa, Canada, for a month from 7 June 2009.
