1N THE WORLD OF saxophones, per- "1 haps no other company has been able to accomplish what E Mauriat has done in such a short period of time. In 2002, P. Mauriat founder Alex Hsieh came to the U.S. from Taiwan to take lessons from Roger Greenberg, professor of saxophone at the University of Northern Colorado. Their discussions tumed to designing a hom that would incorporate the best characteristics of the great vintage horns.
In 2004 Greenberg retired from UNC and founded MonteVerde Music, the company that distributes the E Mauriat line within North America. P. Mauriat's mission was--and is--to produce instruments of the highest quality with a priority on sound, and to make them available at a reasonable price.
Frequently compared to great vintage horns yet offering all the advantages of modern ergonomics and intonation, they have earned rave reviews from top professional players, university saxophone professors, teachers, and students of all levels. Endorsers include multiple Downbeat award winner James Carter, Playboy Jazz Artist of the year Greg Osby, the Berklee College of Music Faculty Saxophone Quartet, contemporary jazz artist Nelson Rangell, internationally known classical saxophonist Harvey Pittel, as well as university saxophone professors and other outstanding saxophonists in many different styles of the musical scene.

P. Mauriat Rolled Tone Hole Series saxophones have tone holes that are drawn and rolled from the body, not soldered. P. Mauriat is the only company in the world currently creating saxophones using this very difficult process. These horns are free-blowing from low to high and offer a huge, fat sound with a balanced mixture of overtones. Alto and tenor models are available with standard gold lacquer, vintage dark lacquer, and unlacquered finishes.
P. Mauriat System 76 horns are created with straight tone holes and offer a slightly more focused sound than their Rolled Tone Hole counterparts. They are available in soprano, alto, and tenor models and come with standard gold lacquer and vintage dark lacquer finishes.
P. Mauriat's latest releases, the PMT-600G and PMT-600Y trumpets, were in the development stage for more than three years. After a number of prototypes and improvements made at the suggestions of professional players and trumpet professors around the globe, the line made its much-anticipated debut at the 2009 NAMM show. These trumpets are medium-large bore and produce the big, rich sound that is now part of the R Mauriat identity.
