FOLLOWING ONE OF HIS final performances as principal clarinetist of the New York Philharmonic, Stanley Drucker was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award and a gala reception hosted by Buffet-Crampon. A 61year veteran of the Philharmonic, Drucker gave five electrifying performances of the Copland Clarinet Concerto, held at Avery Fisher Hall, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, in June. After each of his performances, Drucker received extended standing ovations from the audience and applause from Philharmonic Music Director Lorin Maazel and members of the orchestra. He was also honored for his unprecedented tenure with a 12-minute video presentation featuring tributes from Philharmonic conductors and colleagues. Additionally, Drucker received special honors from the City of New York, was inducted into the Guinness Book of Worm Records for career longevity, and was given honorary membership into the Philharmonic Symphony Society of New York, making him the first musician accorded this honor in the 167-year history of the society.
The gala reception hosted by Buffet-Crampon was held following Drucker's performance at Avery Fisher Hall June 6. On hand were nearly 30 eminent Buffet-Crampon, Antoine Courtois, and Besson performing artists. Also attending were a number of Buffet-Crampon's authorized dealers.
