Maddan (criminology, U. of Tampa) employed criminal data from the State of Arkansas to examine recidivism among sex offenders and determine the effects of registration policies on these behaviors. Written for students and practitioners of criminal justice and law enforcement, this study compares the criminal records of registered sex offenders from 1997 to 1999 with the criminal records of similar cases in 1978 to 1989, before current registration and labeling policies were in effect. The author includes a thorough description of his research methodology, an analysis of his findings and conclusions and logistic regression equations for both groups of offenders.
