The 1886 Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs is joining the green movement. The hotel will begin distributing to guests brochures that outline its efforts to be good stewards of the environment.
The hotel says it is committed to saving 10 percent on energy costs and reducing paper consumption by 40 percent. The management is replacing showerheads with more efficient ones, replacing incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs and putting the air-conditioning and heating units on timers.
In addition, the hotel is asking its guests to have linens and towels changed only when necessary. Guests are encouraged to turn down the heat or air conditioning when leaving their rooms, turn off lights, reduce water use and use the provided recycling bags.
