The Arkansas Public Service Commission approved the proposed Southwestern Electric Power Co.'s application for a $1.6 billion power plant in Hempstead County in November 2007, before the Louisiana Public Service Commission and the Public Utility Commission of Texas granted their approval early in 2008. An editorial in the June 29 issue of Arkansas Business erroneously said the Arkansas PSC rushed its decision after the Louisiana and Texas had approved it.
