A couple of KUAR's reporters might be able to lead the training sessions. On top of the station winning two national awards recently from Public Radio News Directors Incorporated, Kelly MacNeil and Malcolm Glover were each selected to attend seminars hosted by National Public Radio. MacNeil is a reporter and assignment editor, and Glover is a reporter/ anchor.
Glover attended training, held in Culver City, Calif., in mid-July that focused on covering the local impact of war. MacNeil will visit Los Angles in October for a week-long session on business and economics.
The awards were first place in the Breaking News category for coverage of Arkansas Democratic Party Chairman Bill Gwatney's shooting death, and Glover earned a secondplace award in the Use of Sound category for his report on the art of political jingles.
